While building a team of Shaklee leaders, I provide motivation, inspiration and quality coaching for each individual on my team. I set the example of what leadership looks like, so the following leadership quotes guide me to be the best leader that I can be for my team. Below, I let you know what each quote means to me. What do they mean to you?
“Find what interests you, and that you can do well. Put your soul into it–every bit of energy and ambition and natural ability you have.”
This is a quote from John D. Rockefeller, renowned industrialist and founder of The Standard Oil Company. In the early 1980s, my husband and I moved our family, including three young children, to the country. We were environmentalists and interested in a healthy lifestyle during a decade when that still classified us as “hippies.” In November 1982, I became a Shaklee Member, wanting to just use a few of the company’s nutritional products. I soon became educated about Shaklee Corporation, products, and the business opportunity. I found every aspect of the company interesting, amazing and exciting…these feelings are what drove my desire to start my own Shaklee business. I learned I could become a successful independent businesswoman, while remaining a stay at home mom.
I spent time gaining knowledge about the Shaklee commitment to science and research–the “how and why” in their mission to develop high quality products. Thanks to great leadership and continued guidance, just a few months later I made that commitment to become an entrepreneur and build a Shaklee business.
It didn’t take long to realize all the tax advantages of a home based business, while earning a valuable income, paid incentive travel and bonus cars. Most importantly, I enjoyed the personal freedom I craved. Shaklee was a great decision for our family. I was able to work from home, contribute to my family’s income, be the mother I wanted to be to my three small children, work a flexible schedule, and not answer to the whims of a boss. It is a fantastic feeling of success to be a female entrepreneur!
“Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage.”
This is a favorite quote from the author and diarist Anais Nin. As our family matured, I have been able to expand the Shaklee business to suit our current lifestyle. Our children went off to college, began their careers in distant cities, married, and are beginning their own families. Our close knit family enjoys a wonderful camaraderie, but the kids have their own lives. My husband I now have a great deal of freedom and free time. We enjoy a wonderful lifestyle. We love the lack of restrictions to work when we want, spend time with family and friends, earn unlimited income, and travel when and where we choose (including Shaklee incentive trips to fabulous destinations). Shaklee has taken on a greatly expanded role in our lives as time has marched on.
“Weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character.”
Isn’t this a fabulous quote from Albert Einstein? As a home-based business, Shaklee offers freedom. It also offers unlimited opportunities, whether your goal is to pay for your kids’ extracurricular activities, buy a new car, help pay tuition bills, or to initiate a brand new, full time career. Whatever your goals, it does take time and commitment. You will truly derive from it the effort that you put into it. It’s challenging to start something new. How you approach it says volumes about personal character. A positive attitude and can-do spirit are contagious!
“Nothing was ever achieved without enthusiasm.”
I love this quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson. Today, my Shaklee career is two-fold. One aspect is training. Mentoring and coaching others who want to build a business is extremely gratifying, and I believe they feed off my continued enthusiasm for our company. My mission is to provide a level of high quality education and knowledge that matches the high quality of Shaklee opportunity and products. I am always available to answer questions, guide distributors through our online business training and our comprehensive array of products. My distributors live in my neighborhood, in my city, and across the country. We communicate through personal meetings, conference calls, video chats, marketing material, instructional videos, and telephone calls. We provide that support that works for your personality, your lifestyle and your goals.
Teaching the value of better personal and financial health by using and sharing Shaklee products is the philosophy of my business. My goals is to educate, motivate, and appreciate!
Another inspirational quote also sums up my feelings about my chosen profession:
“Enthusiasm is the sparkle in your eyes, the swing in your gait, the grip of your hand, the irresistible surge of will, and energy to execute your ideas.”
This, from the esteemed auto industry pioneer Henry Ford. Those who know me well know that I am not just enthusiastic, but passionate about Shaklee. If you’d like to learn more and begin to educate yourself, I invite you to continue browsing my Blog and follow me on Facebook. I hope that you will share my enthusiasm; I am confident that you will gain a wealth of of knowledge about health, wealth and Shaklee from these methods of communication.
“Form the habit of interesting yourself in other people.”
I borrow this from Napoleon Hill, an early author on the topic of personal success. It is appropriate for the second aspect of my business. In addition to providing training, mentoring and coaching, I educate members who simply want to purchase Shaklee products. I work hard to discern their needs. Whether they are committed to using home care products that are environmentally safe, using only green personal care items for their children, committed to good nutrition, looking to improve their health, or hoping to lose weight in a healthy manner, it is my pleasure to find and order the right Shaklee products for members and their families. The ordering process is always safe, secure and easy.
“The value of an idea lies in the using of it.”
Thomas A. Edison surely put that concept to use in his lifetime. Today, my Shaklee family includes my daughter Stephanie and her husband Tony (and their three girls), my son Dan and his wife Cortney, and my son Robby and his wife Alana who all regularly purchase products for their families. It also includes my husband Pat, who is my biggest supporter and a constant source of innovative ideas to expand our breadth of service and success. We are a true-life example of the ability to work together with thousands of miles separating us.
Dan and Cortney, originally from outside of Boston, Massachusetts, are passionate about the outdoors, gardening and wellness. Cortney keeps things fabulous in the kitchen with Moroccan cooking and a new focus Paleo recipes, they both regularly juice in the mornings and they both use multiple Shaklee products in their home. Cortney keeps variety at the core of her active lifestyle, enjoying yoga, gardening, long walks and hikes, skiing and bike riding.
Dan is passionate about guitar, online marketing, wellness and his lawn. He wishes he had so much energy that he didn’t have to sleep, because he likes to do so much. Dan was originally diagnosed with Tourette’s Syndrome when he was 5 years old, yet has been mostly relieved of this incurable syndrome due to good nutrition and holistic supplementation provided by Shaklee.
We all aspire to live the healthiest lives that we can, and are here to help others do the same. We have ideas about health and wellness, and we use them. We practice what we preach.
“Courage is the first of human qualities because it is the quality which guarantees the others.”
This is an ancient quote from Aristotle. Thirty years ago, I went out on a limb and began my Shaklee career. I don’t know if it took courage, but it took determination, drive and motivation – which upon further review, could be synonyms for courage. Three decades later, we remain committed to our mission.
Our mission is to provide a level of personal service that matches the high quality of Shaklee products. I want you to know there is a real person who is there for you – to answer any questions, to guide you through our comprehensive array of products, and to ensure you get on the path to success if a Shaklee career is your objective. We ensure it is all at your fingertips.
“A man is but the product of his thoughts. What he thinks he becomes.”
Mahatma Gandhi needs no introduction, but he leaves us with valuable food for thought. We’re Shaklee People. Kern and Associates is an organization of Shaklee Business Leaders, Distributors, and Members who want to be in control of their health, while some of them also desire to spread the word and share the Shaklee opportunity with others. If you want to evaluate the Shaklee Business Opportunity, please contact me. We will discuss more of the details so you can see if it is a good fit for you.
Our company founder, Dr. Forrest Shaklee, summed up the philosophy he lived by with this quote:
“What you think, you look; what you think, you do; what you think; you are.”
Essentially, what Dr. Shaklee was saying was what you focus your thoughts on becomes reality. This is essentially the same message as the law of attraction (as discussed in “The Secret,” the acclaimed video/book). This is so important to understand. Your thoughts will become your reality. What do you want to do with your life? I’ve found my calling and hope you will, too. That is my most sincere wish for everyone.
